He got interested in the immune system but realized that there were no books that actually explained it in detail without getting overly complicated or boring. So he failed miserably, had to repeat several grades and eventually had to drop out of high school altogether. Luckily he then met a teacher who showed him that learning about the world was important and actually endlessly fascinating. Through her he became interested in history and biology for the first time in his life. This initial spark of curiosity changed Philipps life forever. Philipp now wants to pass on this spark and ignite a passion for knowledge in people all around the world.
